ECONOMIC STIMULUS OF OTIA III BRIDGES: CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT PAYMENTS
As of Oct. 31, 2009, the bridge program has awarded contracts valued at $1.6 billion to construction contractors and subcontractors. To date, 83 percent of construction contracts have been awarded to Oregon firms, stimulating our local economy. The size and duration of bridge program contracts allow companies to hire and retain employees, and purchase equipment and materials, often from local suppliers.
