ECONOMIC STIMULUS OF OTIA III BRIDGES: DESIGN CONTRACT PAYMENTS
As of April 30, 2010, the OTIA III State Bridge Delivery Program has awarded contracts valued at $174 million to design consultants and subconsultants. The bridge program incorporated a number of Statewide Transportation Improvement Program projects into various bundles to speed delivery, which increased the contract values and provided more opportunities for design firms. To date, 84 percent of design contracts have been awarded to Oregon firms, stimulating our local economy by sustaining thousands of family-wage jobs in design and related industries. The size and duration of bridge program contracts allow firms to hire and retain employees.
